PREGNANCY SAFE SKINCARE (THAT EVERYONE CAN USE!)
Congrats to all the new mommas to be! Pregnancy brings with it a multitude of changes to the body, including your skin.
When I first became pregnant, my skin went nuts. I’m lucky that I am an aesthetician and really know my own skin. It didn’t take me long to figure out that the rate my skin was shedding was on overdrive. And my body wasn’t keeping up with exfoliating it as quickly as it was building up… causing breakouts that I haven’t seen in years!
Before I became pregnant, I used mostly Fresh Faced Skincare, which is my normal go-to-acne product at the studio. Normally, I would exfoliate once every other day with clarity serum, and once a month with a dermaplaning facial and enzyme peel. This would keep my breakouts at bay, but not anymore… nightmare!
Since I couldn’t use my normal enzymes anymore, I had to think of new creative ways to exfoliate that were pregnancy safe.
Here is the new skincare routine that I adopted.
Pregnancy Skincare Routine
I was so happy to know that Fresh Faced Skincare is also pregnancy safe. I was so excited that I was able to continue to use the product line throughout my pregnancy. All I needed to do was adjust my skincare routine (exfoliation especially) and incorporate a few other products.
MORNING ROUTINE
Purifying Cleansing Bar, Fresh Faced Skincare ($10).
Clarity Serum, Fresh Faced Skincare ($47).
Daily Greens Moisturizer for normal/combination/oily skin, Sorella Apothecary ($64).
Yogurt Kale Eye Concentrate Cream, Sorella Apothecary ($64).
NIGHT ROUTINE
Purifying Cleansing Bar.
Clarity Serum.
Blueberry Milk Moisturizer, Sorella Apothecary ($82).
Yogurt Kale Eye Concentrate Cream.
Bonus Exfoliation
Use a Pore Refining Scrub, 3x/week in the shower like Fresh Faced Skincare ($56). Stick this step in between your Cleanser and Clarity Serum.
Now you don’t necessarily have to use two different moisturizers, but I did enjoy using the Blueberry Milk Moisturizer at night for a little added moisture. If you are more on the dry-side, Sorella makes a product called “The Balm” that is even more moisturizing for normal/dry skin.
What Made the Difference
Notice how I started using Clarity Serum 2 times per day, instead of every other, and I started keeping my Fresh Faced Pore Refining Scrub in the shower. I love using it in the shower that way I can rinse it right off, and it doesn’t interfere with my lashes.
My skin took a total 180, and everyone comments on my “glow.” There’s no more buildup of dead skin and break outs. YAY! I still get dermaplaned maybe once every 4-6 weeks.
I also bought special pregnancy safe enzymes for the studio recently that I love to use after dermaplaning. If you’re pregnant, (or even if you’re not!) our aestheticians will cater your facial especially for your skin, so book an appointment today; it will be a lifesaver!
Bonus: Great Pregnancy Product Finds
The Earth Mama Line (found on Amazon), so far has been a favorite of mine. I love the Belly Butter lotion, and their organic nipple cream (lanolin free, and doesn’t grease up your clothes). I like the consistency of it more than lanolin, but I will have to report back once I am actually breastfeeding! What I love about the line is it’s super inexpensive, but very effective.
I’m also very blessed to have a licensed and certified aromatherapist as a Mother, who is able to customize any of your favorite essential oils in an organic, 100% natural body butter formula (and many other products, too).
I’ve been slathering it all over my belly at night and no stretch marks! Feel free to reach out to me, if you’d like to try the product. We will be carrying her line, Vetiver & Rose, in the near future! Just let me know the type of product you are looking for. : )
